1. Toothpicks – Wooden “cleaning sticks” are said to prevent gingivitis, while synthetic ones help remove plaque.
  2. Interdental brushes – These little brushes can be easier to manipulate than floss.
  3. Tape floss – While still technically flossing, tape floss can cause less discomfort than regular fiber-woven floss.
  4. Floss picks – A study from 2007 found that these little tools can be “at least as good as” using regular dental floss.
